Inches founder, in soft morning light at her desk

We were tired of being lied to about our hair.

Inches was built by Black women who spent thousands on “raw Indian temple hair” that turned out to be processed Brazilian or worse. We got tired of guessing. So we built the intel platform we wished existed: every Amazon vendor, traced back to where they actually ship from, scored on 8 independent signals, with all the receipts.

How we check

8 things we check on every seller.

Where they ship from

We read the seller's business address on their Amazon page and compare it to where the listing says the hair is from.

EXAMPLE: Listing says 'Indian Remy.' Storefront address is in China. We show you both.

Same photos elsewhere

We check if the same product photos show up on other sellers. Often means they all share one factory.

EXAMPLE: The exact same product photo shows up on 6 different listings.

Review bursts

We watch how fast reviews stack up. A huge wave in a few days can be a sign something's off.

EXAMPLE: 200 reviews in 6 days — flagged as a burst worth a look.

Reviews vs the claim

We read the reviews and flag where what customers say doesn't match what the listing claims.

EXAMPLE: Listing says 'raw Indian.' Multiple reviews mention a chemical smell.

Real answers in Q&A

We check if sellers actually answer specific questions about their hair, or just give canned replies.

EXAMPLE: Seller answers with real details on texture, weight, and where the hair came from.

Copy-paste descriptions

We spot when the same listing text shows up word-for-word across different sellers.

EXAMPLE: The same 4-paragraph description shows up on 11 different listings.

Same seller, many names

Different Amazon shop names sometimes belong to the same seller account. We connect the dots.

EXAMPLE: 5 Amazon shops all run from one seller account, registered to one company.

What people say online

We pull up what people are saying about this seller on Reddit and YouTube — good and bad.

EXAMPLE: 307 Reddit mentions overall, 2 popular threads complaining.

These checks come from public info — Amazon pages, reviews, photos. We don’t accuse anyone of anything. We just show you what we found so you can decide for yourself. See our how we work page.

TM

I had a salon spend $1,800 on a bundle pack labeled 'raw Indian.' It came smelling like burnt plastic. Three of us washed it and watched half the wefts unravel. That's why Inches exists.
